The National Service Scheme (NSS) in colleges aims to develop student personality through community service under the motto “Not Me, But You”. It bridges academic learning with social responsibility, engaging volunteers in rural development, literacy programs, health camps, and environmental conservation to build civic awareness. The key roles of NSS units are as follows.

  1. Community Service: Volunteers engage in activities like cleaning, tree planting, and blood donation camps to address local needs.
  2. Personality Development: NSS helps students develop leadership qualities, team spirit, and democratic attitudes.
  3. Rural Upliftment: Units adopt villages or slums to implement developmental programs and improve living standards.
  4. Social Awareness: Students conduct campaigns on health, AIDS awareness, literacy, and environmental conservation.
  5. Disaster Management: NSS volunteers provide support during natural and man-made disasters.
  6. Education through Service: The program integrates academic knowledge with practical, hands-on experience in solving societal problems.
